WK3: Ready To Build A Game

Team Progress We were able to make a lot of progress this week in terms of really understanding what our game is about and how it will play out for our players. Through thorough discussions, we managed to expand on the different aspects of our fictional world, such as the characters and enemies that inhabit it and the various places players may encounter on their journey. Knowing these concrete details allows us to determine what kinds of interactions will take place in the game and the mechanics that we can implement to support these events. Significant enhancements to our game include a new cloaking mechanic, an inventory gameplay mode, and redesigning its visual style to resemble a more melancholic look that reflects our theme better. Overall, our team was able to reach a stage in the development cycle where we have the information, ideas, and plans we need to be able to begin building the game. My Contribution This week, I primarily contributed by brainstorming potential ways to improve the game. These include coming up with specific plot points, re-imagining the way players are damaged and killed by enemies, and laying out the players' movement from one space to another in terms of game world maps. For the week's deliverables, I was able to write plenty of content for our game design document, as well as create some sketches that outlined some of our interactions, mechanics, animations, and overall game structure.

Reflection Although I am satisfied with how much our team was able to progress this week in terms of conceptualizing and solidifying plans and ideas, I am wary about the amount of work we will have to complete for the upcoming week. We were not able to execute our previous week's goal of building assets, therefore this will be something we will have to do on top of finally coding the basics of our game. It will be a busy week, however, I am confident that we will be able to do what we must by managing our time wisely and prioritizing the right things.
