Iterate, Ideate and Informate

The team and I took a short break from working on the game and instead worked hard on relaxing our muscles (brain muscles that is). After a short break were the team attended to other courses, we grouped together and by combining our creative ideas we began to develop the designs for level 2. This was predominately based off of one of our team mates sketches he had sketched to showcase to use the ideas he had for how level 2 would be laid out. Level 2 takes place inside of a cavern that our main character - Solis - falls down inside when the player chooses to go down so technically he doesn't fall he just goes down it which is the connection model from moving to level 1 to level 2 (in conclusion: Solis does not fall down the well, he choses to go down). When the player moves to level 2, the way the level is built is considerably different. Level 1 was a forest and as such, that means level 1 was fairly flat in terms of terrain. However, as level 2 is a cavern and therefore not a forest, level 2 must have a much higher number of gaps to hump over and large rooms. The designs that our teammate presented were wonderful and the rest of the team were more than pleased with what he had to present, in fact we were pleased enough we went ahead with a lot of them (or we will go ahead with a lot of them). The rest of the team chimed in to help clarify the various ramps, flows and how the different enemies will be shown, how the player will be provided with different pathways to choose (power to the player) and how the narrative will continue on (referring to the shack man). Our next goals will be to fully flesh our level 2s design, begin designing level 3 (our final level) and iterate further on level 1s functionality.

My personal contributions included helping to brainstorm different ideas for how level 2 will be structured, what different paths to include and finally what different narratives and enemies to include.

The biggest challenges that I have identified will be to keep the timeline in mind and develop around it. We have till March 28th to finish two additional levels and finish iterating on level 1. Thats a lot of things to do.
