Week 4 Team Assessment

For this week, our group was able to conduct a meeting where we got started on building our first playable. There, we were able to reiterate and expand on some aspects of our game based on the feedback we received from the presentation. In the creation of our prototype, our programmers began coding the core mechanics using placeholders in Unity, while our visual artists and level designers worked out the layout of the first "level" of the game. Our team members also managed to conduct research on post-apocalyptic environment characteristics and visuals for reference, as well as gather potential sound effects we can use to bring the game world to life, as sound plays an important role in our game.

Throughout the meeting, all members contributed to the discussion regarding the prototype, going over all the details that would influence the player's potential experience of our game. This included rehashing some of our designs for the UI, how mechanics such as the journal and cloaking would work, as well as what kinds of interactions could occur between the player and objects in the environment. On top of this, we were also able to develop sketches for our character animations, mechanics, first level maps, and enemies, which will all be translated into actual assets that we will create in the upcoming days prior to the first playable deadline. These assets will be placed in Unity along with the coded core loop mechanics for Tuesday.
