WEEK 2 PROCESS

Summary:

For this week, we had the meeting on Wednesday the 18th from 11:30am. Before this meeting, we were assigned to come up with minimum two ideas/suggestions for our existing game proposal, or completely new ideas. After reviewing the ideas we had, we went on to the document where we started to settle down the settings for the game, such as the name of the protagonist, the types of the monster and their abilities, the backstory, the environment setting, the core mechanics and the satellite mechanics. We also discussed about the art style little bit.

Contributions:

I have started looking for soundtracks for our game, mainly thriller and horror types. From the suggestion last week, I started to look into how to build 2.5D and 3D game.

My first idea is based on the existing game idea, where people are hunted down by big eye monsters, as the protagonist and his mother is captured by the monster, they were taken back to the monster’s base. After the protagonist wake up, he found himself in a laboratory and he overheard the evil group of scientists are experimenting on the captured people. The goal of the protagonist is to find his mother and escape.

Second idea is completely different. To be simple, the game happens after the little mermaid vanish into foams. The mermaid is trapped in a dimension in between of the living world and the death with regrets. The goal of mermaid and prince is to find the broken pieces of the mermaid’s soul pieces in different part of the two world together. This would be an adventure cooperative game.

Reflections:

In general, we moved on a lot, finalized most of the things. We still need a lot of time to talk about the art style to pull of the aesthetic of thrilling horror genre. Our group does not want any background music, so I will be looking into more ambience soundtracks. If the research doesn’t go well, we will be recording some of the sound. If time is manageable, I want to try to work on 2.5D, and if everything goes well, we could change the game into 2.5D.
